Welcome and thank you for visiting our website : )
For most of us there are times when we need support to deal with difficult, emotional issues. Talking to family and friends can be very effective, but sometimes they can’t help and that may be because the issue feels too difficult to talk about. This is when recognising the need for and seeking professional therapy is a sign of strength and determination to live a productive, positive and meaningful life.
As counsellors and psychotherapists we provide a safe, supportive, empathic, non-threatening environment. With us you will feel able to talk freely in confidence and without fear of judgement. You will have the opportunity to explore feelings and create positive change for yourself.
We pride ourselves in being approachable so please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like further details to any aspect of our counselling and psychotherapy services.
Kerry & Caroline
About Kerry Williams and Caroline Sutton
Finding someone you can trust and feel at ease with is important, for this reason the quality of the relationship between counsellor and client is the key to successful therapy. I would be happy to speak to you by telephone which would provide you with the opportunity to ask any questions, explore what it is you wish to gain from therapy and to decide if I am the right counsellor for you.
Moving at your own pace I will work with you to deepen your self-awareness and feel more empowered in your life. I offer one to one sessions on a time-limited or long term basis.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling for Psychotherapy and work within their ethical framework. I undergo supervision with a qualified, experienced supervisor, have a current CRB certificate, and I am fully insured.

I believe that by understanding issues faced in life we can ultimately move forward with renewed and enriched perspectives. Working with you, I will help you to identify ways to find solutions to problems whilst developing your understanding of self-awareness and self-development.
If you have decided to try counselling, you might be feeling anxious about your first session. I would be happy to speak to you by telephone to answer any questions you may have.

About Counselling and Psychotherapy
“The first step to living the life you want, is leaving the life you don’t want. Taking that first step forward is always the hardest. But then each step forward, gets easier and easier. And each step forward, get you closer and closer. Until eventually, what had once been invisible, starts to be visible. And what had once felt impossible, starts to feel possible.” Karen Salmansohn
Counselling is the act of helping you, our client, to see things more clearly, or perhaps from a different viewpoint. It can highlight the way you are feeling and what you think about the problem you have sought help for. This can enable you to focus on your feelings, emotions, experiences, or behaviours, ultimately to help you make positive changes.
As your therapist we will aim to help and encourage you to trust yourself, make your own choices and find your own answers. In doing so, counselling can help you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, increasing your self-esteem and confidence and enabling you to live your life more fully.
Psychotherapy is where we encourage you, our client, to go back to your earlier experiences and explore how these experiences affect your current problem and how it is making you feel. In this way we help you to become aware of events which you were previously unaware of.
WALK & TALK THERAPY with Kerry
Counsellor & Psychotherapist PG Dip. MBACP
From a young age I was aware that being out in the countryside was good for you, both physically and mentally. Over the years I have come to appreciate that being outdoors in nature really is therapeutically good for you. That is why I offer my clients the opportunity of "Walking and Talking Therapy".... which means as it says, we walk together and talk. It does not suit everyone, as many people prefer the safe, cosy environment of my Counselling room. But for those who feel constrained by the indoors, or just feel they would feel more comfortable to speak honestly and openly without eye contact in the more formal therapy setting, then Walking and Talking Counselling may be the preferred choice for you.
Research has shown that walking and spending time in nature of green spaces not only increase our overall health and encourages healthy lifestyle habits, it can be beneficial in reducing anxiety, stress and depression. alking and talking can help with numerous problems, not purely depression and anxiety, but loss and grief, self esteem and confidence, or any kind of life transitions you may be facing, personal, relationship based, family or work related. Parents with babies or your children in pushchairs without childcare facilities find this type of therapy helpful.
For some people, walking outside may help them to confront issues they would like to address such as fear of open spaces, a fear of feeling judged for their appearance, and social anxiety. Having a therapist by your side can help to build confidence in these areas of worry. Seeing people walking together chatting is a very common sight, therefore a client and therapist walking side by side looks no different. The combination of exercise and fresh air allows for easier engagement, processing your feelings and helps you to feel more grounded, as you're literally moving forward while walking.
Usually the first session takes place at my home where we can discuss issues of confidentiality, where we will walk and what we will do if the weather is bad. I practice walking and talking therapy whatever the weather but if you would prefer we can postpone or hold the Counselling session indoors. I am happy for you to set the pace of the walk, if you would prefer to meander along and have a relaxing walk that is fine, but equally we can set a quicker pace if that's what you feel more comfortable with. I am happy for you to bring your dog along or walk with my dog if you would like to, willow is always happy to go for a walk!
